Why Nashville General Hospital Matters

Why Nashville General Hospital Matters
Nashville General Hospital (NGH) is a pivotal force in our community with a legacy of providing equitable access to quality healthcare. Ending inpatient services at the hospital will have a detrimental impact on our community and ultimately cost taxpayers more long-term.
Here’s Why Nashville General Matters:
Nashville’s only safety net hospital, NGH has served Middle Tennessee’s most vulnerable citizens for more than a century. Since 2005, NGH has provided almost a BILLION dollars in uncompensated/charity care for people in your community.
NGH manages nearly 70,000 patient visits each year – nearly half of those are emergency room visits – and there are no firm plans to ensure the care of these individuals.
NGH provides more than $70 million of uncompensated care annually.
If the hospital’s operations are scaled back dramatically, the jobs of 600 dedicated Nashvillians will be put in jeopardy.
NGH’s status as a safety net hospital brings more than $36 million for State General Medicaid funds.
