Update on our petition - Sept 02, 2019 (update #4)

Hi All,
I got a letter from the office of Sen. Grace Poe today (Sept 02) thanking us for sharing the petition and assuring us that it will be considered in her legislative undertakings. We also hope MMDA and all concerned traffic agencies will seriously study and consider the merits of the proposal and not immediately turn it down by citing excuses such as discipline. I also asked Sen. Poe for help on this. I hope such reasons (which should really be addressed by MMDA and our law enforcers) should not be used as an excuse not to consider a proposal which may actually be a solution to our traffic problem. We should all be looking for solutions to solve the problem and not excuses to leave it that way.
I believe the solution to the discipline problem should come from each and everyone of us. However, if there are those who do not have discipline, then MMDA and our law enforcers should ensure the strict and consistent implementation of our traffic laws to instill it. The other issue (the volume of private cars is intended to be addressed thru the petition).
I am also coordinating with other commuter-oriented groups. Hopefully, we could get their support for this petition which we believe should bring justice in EDSA and relieve the sufferings that thousands of the commuters need to endure everyday.
I am truly looking forward to the immediate resolution of the traffic problem which has already been affecting the individual lives of thousands of our commuters, plus the overall economy of the country in terms of billions of pesos everyday. Together with (1) discipline that comes from each of us and (2) a watchful eye over our traffic officials who should strictly, faithfully and consistently enforce the law; we should also have policies that truly favor the majority of the people and not those which favor the selected few. I hope that we are all one in this.
Thank you very much.
