Hi Guys!

It’s been a long time since our organization has posted an update here, and it’s way overdue!  Before giving a recap, I’d like to ask you for an important favor. We realize that you have already signed our petition on Change.org, but are asking that you please sign the petition on our website as well.                                            https://curebraindisease.com/please-sign-our-petition/

In this way, you will be able to see our continued progress as well as upcoming endeavors.  Also, if you would like to join our organization or if you’d like to help out in any way, you may let us know through our ‘Contact Us’ page.                         https://curebraindisease.com/contact/

Due to our continued progress, Cure Brain Disease has now become a non-profit organization.  We have also caught the eye of several noteworthy research scientists from several fields.  Dr. Hilary Coon and Dr. Robert Plomin are two of our newest collaborators.

Dr. Hilary Coon, our Chief Scientific Advisor, is a research professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Huntsman Mental Health Institute. Her work focuses on gene discovery of risks for complex disorders, including genetic analyses of autism spectrum disorder and genetics and epidemiology of suicide. Her work is carried out through collaborations with national and international collaborators, and in Utah, through analyses of extended families discovered through the Utah Population DataBase.

Dr. Robert Plomin is a world-leading behavioral geneticist and author of the book, Blueprint: How DNA Makes Us Who We Are. His research focuses on learning abilities and disabilities using quantitative and molecular genetic techniques. He directs one of the world’s premier twin studies, the Twins Early Development Study, and has published more than 800 papers and is the author or co-author of several books.

In addition, Cure Brain Disease currently competed in the National “ARPA-H Dash to Accelerate Health Outcomes” event, and are very pleased to announce that out of approximately 500 proposals, we placed in the Final 4 Semi- Finals!  Our Proposed Health Transformation was the following:  Serious mental disorders to be researched and treated as individually distinct diseases utilizing genetic/epigenetic studies with the goal of developing novel, targeted treatments and cures.

ARPA-H  (Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health), proposed by President Biden, was created to improve the U.S. government’s ability to speed biomedical and health research.  By making it this far, we’ve had an opportunity for follow-up technical workshops with ARPA-H Program Managers to further vet and build out our idea – Mental Health Moonshot! – for  future research and development. This is a huge step for mental health research!
