Mental Health Becomes A Comfortable Discussable Topic

Mental Health Becomes A Comfortable Discussable Topic

The Issue

MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS TO BECOME MORE IMPORTANT. Many people have been talking about how the you can't assume every suicide is because of mental health, but I would just like to point out that this petition is not because of/ for the recent incident. This petition is made for anyone who has a mental illness or is affected by it.

Schools and society need to look over what it means to have a healthy environment. Physical health is one thing, mental health is another. Schools should make mental health a priority. Not just a couple presentations about it here and there, but how about making happiness of students just as important as their marks and core subjects? Happiness is important.  Students are planning the angles of their suicide in math class and writing their suicide letters in English Class. Education doesn't matter if you aren't happy. When are people going to understand??? Whether I know the person or not, I'm sick of seeing people end their lives when it is preventable. Something needs to be done because it is unbelievable how many people in school know everything they need to know to be successful in university and college. But not as many know how to find happiness and love them self. Why wait? Things need to change.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PETITION

This petition will be made as proof that many people across the province believe that mental health needs much more attention than it gets. Every petition will add on to the number and bring us one step closer to making mental health a more important part of school. I hope that this petition will be good evidence when we speak about schools needing to pay even more attention to mental health. Schools are starting to take action on mental health, but I still do not believe that enough is being done. Whether it's as simple as a PD Day to educate teachers on mental health, or more presentations from guest speakers like Rob Nash. I wish to make schools even more aware to mental health and make it a discussable topic, especially across students and teachers.

By signing this petition, you agree that other things should be put aside for just a second and talk about mental health. By signing, you believe that mental health is important and needs more attention and you would like to see even more of a change and add on to changes- starting in schools.
