Resume the General Education Students' Transportation in Menifee Union School District
The Issue
We are asking the Menifee Union School District to resume the Home-to-School transportation to the general education students for the academic year 2017-18 while exploring other options for the academic year 2018-19.
We are also asking the Menifee Union School District to establish a committee to develop long term plan as well as working with the County, State and all other stakeholders in order to establish a cost-effective transportation services for all the students within the School District.
During the evening of Wednesday, July 12, 2017, the Menifee Union School District (MUSD) put out a public announcement that it will no longer offer Home-to-School transportation (busing), to the general education students. Special Education Students with an Individual Education Plan requiring transportation, and homeless students will continue to receive transportation as mandated by Federal Law. The District estimates this reduction will impact approximately 1,300 students in the 2017-18 school year.
