If you haven't heard the drums... the beating is getting louder and louder. 

MRPP is spinning the web that Memphis in May is the one dragging their feet and MIM is stopping themselves from moving forward; forward in planning the MIM Festivals for 2020! 

To put it in a simple perspective, you can’t plan a wedding for 150 people in less than a year. What are they forcing MIM to do? Find a new location! Pick a country, plan a month of celebrations, book a 3 day national concert, prepare for the World Championship BBQ Fest where 100's of teams come from around the world to celebrate in Memphis! 100,000+ people's plans are being put on hold and soon, soon it will be too late. 

MRPP is certain that MIM will not be in TLP 2020. That's next year! And they have stated the construction phase of their plan will take 14-18 months. When will that start date occur? Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan... do the math. And then throw in cost overruns, weather conditions, labor, the economy, an up and coming Mayor Election!!! When could this construction start but more importantly, when could this construction end. If it takes 18 months and doesn't start until this fall or later, MIM Festivals could be off the river, NOT in TLP for 2 years, so not just 2020. Could easily be gone for 2020, 2021 and then return to downtown Memphis on Tom Lee Park in 2022! That's a major gamble for renovating a city park that provides an economic impact of $150 Million Dollars in just the month of May.
