Thank you all so much for 305 supporters! To celebrate, I wanted to share two examples of zoos immortalising their most iconic animals.

Wilson was one of the oldest meerkats to ever live, and in his memory Barcelona Zoo affectionately erected a sign at the enclosure he inhabited. Even something cheap and simple as a sign like this could be a good option for Adelaide Zoo to pay their respects to Snowy. Speaking of Adelaide Zoo, as well as taxidermising Greater and Chile the flamingos in recent years, decades earlier they commemorated George the Orangutan after his death in 1976. His skeleton was put on display at the Elephant House, and a statue and plaque of him sit on the Millenium Walk to the Education Centre  (coincidentally just a few steps away from the enclosure Snowy spent the last few years of her life in). As I’ve previously mentioned, a monument and/or body display are also excellent ways Adelaide Zoo could commemorate Snowy, if they gave people the opportunity to fundraise for them.

As always, here’s a reminder to share and/or donate to this petition so more like-minded individuals can support the cause, and to contact Adelaide Zoo and tell them why you think Snowy deserves an onsite memorial. We want this petition to gain as much traction as possible, so that Adelaide Zoo’s management notices and hopefully takes action on our request. Snowy was literally a one-of-a-kind animal, and it’s important that Adelaide Zoo preserves her legacy and contribution to animal history by commemorating her. Let’s all keep working together to make this happen!
