Seek public input on government's proposed cybercrime law

Seek public input on government's proposed cybercrime law
The Issue
The passage of the Cybercrime Bill in its current form would be a serious violation of, inter alia, Constitutional Articles 19 and 19-A. Section 31, in particular would give the PTA/Government of Pakistan unfettered powers to control speech and access to information.
IT professionals, human rights activists and civil society demand:
- the draft Bill be made public and input be sought from a broad-based representation of the private IT sector, as well as the public at large;
- Section 31 be removed in its entirety;
- Pakistani citizens' Constitutional right to privacy and freedom of expression be protected and upheld
