The Green Party says it will replace the "punitive" Universal Credit system with a universal basic income (UBI) for everyone by 2025 in a radical election pledge.
The proposed policy, which could cost taxpayers an additional £76bn a year, would "eliminate the cruelty of the benefits system and tackle poverty head-on", said the party's co-leader Sian Berry.
