Welfare vouchers support people in crisis, for example, escaping domestic abuse. They are the difference between being able to get a bed or sleeping on the floor, hiring a removal van or having to carry all your possessions from one place to another.

Some vulnerable people trying to access support have already been told this fund will be withdrawn. This service was administered by West Kent Housing, who have just been granted a three month extension of their contract until after the elections.

We believe after the elections the council will try to quietly scrap this essential support for vulnerable people. This is a cruel attack on people who have done nothing to create the economic crisis but are seeing their safety net removed as part of the austerity offensive being forced upon us to pay for the bankers' mistakes.
