IMMINENT DANGER!!! Reforms Multiply Without the Application of Compensatory Measures

Las obras que se iniciaron en abril de 2022 en el número 8 de la calle Ínsula de Barataria en Málaga y, que se reanudaron en octubre de ese mismo año, ya han finalizado sin la aplicación de ninguna medida compensatoria. En octubre, registramos un documento dirigido a la Delegación en Málaga de la Consejería de Sostenibilidad, Medio Ambiente y Economía Azul de la Junta de Andalucía (órgano con las competencias en la materia), mostrando nuestra gran preocupación antes esta desgracia ecológica y, pidiendo la aplicación de las "oportunas medidas compensatorias" que estipula la Ley andaluza ante estas destrucciones de nidos. A día de hoy no hemos recibido respuesta y a un mes de la llegada de los vencejos, no se ha colocado ni un solo nido artificial.

Pero no sólo nos quedamos aquí, sino que hace unos días, hemos sido informadas de que en los edificios colindantes al número 8 de Ínsula de Barataria y en otros de la misma barriada, se van a realizar las mismas reformas (quedan una veintena de edificios por rehabilitar).

Si la Delegación en Málaga de la Consejería con competencias en Medio Ambiente, sigue en la misma línea actual de obviar la aplicación de la Ley, los daños a la biodiversidad van a ser irreparables.

Es por ello, que nuestro siguiente paso es poner estos hechos en conocimiento de la Fiscalía y, presentar el mayor número de firmas posibles de ciudadanos a los que sí les importa que se conserve ésta gran colonia.

La Ley ya existe, sólo se trata de tener voluntad política para hacerla cumplir

In October, we registered a document addressed to the Delegation in Malaga of the Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy of the Junta de Andalucía (body with competences in the matter), showing our great concern before this ecological misfortune and, asking for the application of the "opportune compensatory measures" stipulated by the Andalusian Law in the face of these nest destructions. To this day we have not received a response and one month after the arrival of the swifts, not a single artificial nest has been placed.

But not only did we stay here, but a few days ago, we have been informed that the same reforms will be carried out in the buildings adjacent to number 8 of Ísula de Barataria and in others in the same neighborhood (some twenty buildings remain to rehabilitate).

If the Delegation in Malaga of the Ministry with competences in the Environment, continues in the same current line of ignoring the application of the Law, the damage to biodiversity will be irreparable.

That is why our next step is to bring these facts to the attention of the Prosecutor's Office and present the largest possible number of signatures of citizens who do care that this great colony is preserved.

The Law already exists, it is only a matter of having the political will to enforce it
