U. S. Bombs Sirte at Request of "Government of National Accord"

Dear supporters, I have only a sad update on this cause. Despite previous requests to the U.S. to support the citizens of Sirte, who need our help (not our weapons, for a change) and who are putting themselves at risk, the world's favorite superpower chooses, once again, to simply drop bombs on the problem. Of course the Islamic State could be weakend by these airstrikes, but as we have seen in tragic parallels such as Nigeria, this strategy kills or injures at least as many civilians as terrorists and undoes what has already been won by local forces, despite the government's claims to the contrary. (see the linked article). The fights in Sirte are at extremely close range. A bomb that hits an IS target means doom for the militants a couple hundred metres away. It may be too late. But please, let's not give up. Please continue to share the petition or better, just talk about the situation in Sirte with family and friends.
