Education is one of the most important pillars of success for an individual as well as his/her nation. In a country where a large proportion of students are getting fake degrees, and that too in one of the most important life careers that is medicine, we can already think of the ills that could happen, if these fake doctors occupy the seats instead of the deserving ones. India is now at such a position where the deserving and professional doctors are leaving the country, and the nation is being filled up with doctors and students with fake degrees. Thus it has become very important to analyze this issue properly, otherwise it would drag the whole country in vicious cycle of corruption and downfall.

One of the main causes of corruption in medical education is the never ending vicious cycle which initiates as soon as MBBS seats are sold for lakhs of rupees in medical colleges. Rampant corruption exists at every level, from medical college admissions, getting a degree, to registration with the medical council. Multiple types of corruption are found such as question papers getting leaked , persons other than the student write medical examinations on behalf of students, college managements charging unofficial "donations" in addition to official fees. Students have been reported to bribe faculty to get good reports, and doctors have been reported to pay bribes to get registered with the state medical council.
