In 24 hours, we've gone from 5,000 signatures to over DOUBLE that at 10,641 signatures! Thank you, thank you so much for believing in this cause! I took up this cause in the first place when I learned Lucca's story, and through her stories, about other military working dogs, and was crushed to learn that there was no means of honoring them here in our country. I do not personally know Lucca, or her former handler/current pet parent Marine Gunnery Sgt. Chris Willingham, but I was so moved by their story I felt I had to do something. I am a pet parent to two sweet, life-saving dogs of my own. First is Jake. I have severe Type 2 diabetes. He is a psychiatric service dog, but on multiple occasions, when my blood glucose level had risen in my sleep to dangerous levels, he has awakened my husband which led to me being taken to the hospital and my life saved. I wish there was an award I could give him, but I digress. My second dog is Drax. He's my life line. I suffer from severe anxiety, PTSD and depression, and he lets me snuggle him as long as I need to get through whatever is troubling me. He's a rescue, and is a Malinois/Great Dane mix. Long story short, I've had my life saved not only by these two dogs, but many dogs in my life and none of them had to put their lives on the line to do it. Any dog who does so most certainly deserves to be recognized officially by our own government. Thank you all for your support! I can't wait to see where we stand tomorrow! Rian Lyons-Copeland
