Ottawa Wildlife Petition Update

We wanted to give everyone a quick update on the petition 'Meaningful Change Must Happen to the City's Wildlife Strategy and Practices'.
My wife and I have attended both the virtual and in-person public engagement session regarding the upcoming changes to the City's Wildlife Strategy and what those changes should look like. We have provided copies of the signatures and comments from the petition to the Program Managers and City Planner.
There has been an unprecedented number of bear sightings in Ottawa this year. Just today there have been two new bear sightings in the west end of Ottawa, one in Kanata and one in Stittsville. Thankfully, no more bears have been shot, although the City has tranquillized/trapped two bears in order to relocate them.
We will be providing copies of all of the signatures and comments to the City Councillors prior to the vote on the updated City's Wildlife Strategy happening in September.
While all of the petition signatures are important and carry a lot of influence, the City Councillors will be most influenced by signatures from the residents of the City of Ottawa, so can we please ask that if you live in the City of Ottawa or know people who live in the city, please take a moment and share our petition.
Thank you!
