After contacting Elsevier for a further update, there have been no indications of positive changes to their forthcoming description of ME/CFS.  

A spokesperson for Elsevier responded 20 May 2024:  "The chapters involved are still being finalised - the book itself won't publish until 2025."  

Elsevier continue, "The editors have reviewed the petition... these points have been discussed with the contributors of the relevant sections to consider during their update.  We are always grateful to receive and reflect on feedback from readers."
