How many more years will it take for McDonald’s UK & Ireland to catch up with the rest of the world and properly cater for those following a gluten free diet? 

The only way we will get Change is by shouting about it and putting pressure on these businesses. They make a fortune but are still too arrogant to be fully inclusive.

Those of you who are not Coeliac may think, “oh for goodness sake, it’s just a ‘bun’, get over yourselves”. But it’s just the tip of the iceberg, it’s the psychological effect it has on our relationship with the food industry as a whole and the essential need to be able to eat when out and about. Being excluded is not nice in any shape or form, especially when you are a young child, but we all need to eat as a bear minimum.

If a giant corporation like McDonalds show that they take this exclusion seriously, others will follow… other food establishments and other fast food corporations such as KFC.

But look at this… there is a whole section about Change on the McDonalds website (viewed on 23/12/22). It’s great they are wanting to tackle a huge world problem and shows they can make changes, so let’s add the simple change of adding a gluten free bun and taking allergen requirements more seriously, after all, you are in the business of feeding people, but it seems, some are more important than others.

Here is an extract from the UK & Ireland McDonald’s website… Had to laugh, no gluten free bun since 1974, 48 years! So much for looking out for each other!

Some comments on this petition have followed the theme of the subject being about ‘junk’ food, but it’s not, it’s about Change, perception and understanding.
