Our voices were heard! Senator Jason Lewis just posted this update and the MBTA agreed to suspend the schedule changes until they can solicit more public feedback.
"I just got off the phone with representatives from the MBTA. I'm pleased to report that they are suspending implementation of schedule changes. The MBTA will publish revised draft schedules in December, which will be followed by a several-month-long public process to solicit feedback. Final schedules, following that feedback period, will then take effect in May 2016. Thanks to the MBTA and MassDOT teams for being receptive to our concerns, listening to the stories of our constituents, and working collaboratively with us to hold off on the announced changes as they open up the process to greater public feedback. And thanks to the many area residents who spoke up and acted! Your activism made a real difference here!"
Representative Brodeur also shared a copy of the letter from Transportation Secretary Pollock providing details about how the MBTA will move forward on new schedules (see MBTA news release and the letter here: http://tinyurl.com/mbtamassdot).
Thank you all for voicing your concerns, both via this petition and through your own phone calls, emails, and social media postings regarding this issue. We thank our Legislative delegation for working so hard to make sure we were heard.
I won't declare this a victory yet, until we see what the public feedback process looks like and get the final schedules in May, but for now, we have our train back. #BringBackThe515
We'll do our best to keep everyone posted throughout the Winter as the public review process is underway.
