We have been working feverishly with our legislators on this, who are in complete support of our petition. In fact, they have released a joint letter to the General Managers of the MBTA and Keolis imploring them to reconsider the schedule changes that impact the communities they represent, calling specific attention to the 5:15 train stop in Wakefield. See the full text of their letter here: http://senatorjasonlewis.com/2015/11/19/legislators-submit-letter-to-mbta-keolis-expressing-serious-concerns-over-commuter-rail-service-cuts/
We've also been in touch with the MBTA Advisory Board, Rider Oversight Committee, and Transportation for Massachusetts. Their initial responses indicate that they have already had preliminary discussions about this at the MBTA Control Board meeting, and received a promise from General Manager DePaula to look into it. They believe there may be an opportunity for public comment on this matter and it MAY be able to be changed before the schedule takes effect. We hope so!
We encourage you to continue to lend your voice to this issue, as everyone we have spoken with says that the more complaints and personal impact stories come in, the more justification they have and can pass along to the MBTA/Keolis.
What you can do:
1. Share this petition.
It affects more than just the people who take this one train and will have downstream implications for other riders, and residents of Melrose, Wakefield, and Reading.
2. Call or email your legislators.

Finally, a blogger posted a breakdown of the impacts of all the schedule changes on the North Side, and specifically called out our stop on the 5:15 train as something that should be added back in: "The 5:15 express, which currently makes its first stop in Wakefield, now will skip Wakefield—the third busiest stop on the line—but won't save any time. This stop should be added back in." See the full article here: http://amateurplanner.blogspot.com/2015/11/new-north-side-schedules-good-bad-and.html
