Rebecca Lewis and I, like many candidates, have been having an ongoing conversation about the necessity of fiber. I am happy to say that Rebecca wrote to me today to say that, "I’m also a person who has lived without the internet for 20 years. We have fallen so far behind because of it. Bottomline is I’m over all the in fighting and weird political wrangling, myself and all of us in this situation are done with excuses and want results."

Yes Rebecca, we need results in so many areas and we need our upper-crusty politicians to put their grade-school level squabbles aside and do their jobs. Few issues are easier to solve than the broadband issue. You literally just have to put inexpensive conduit and fiber in and pair them with Dig Once and Open Access and/or Municipal policies. They pay for themselves in the long run via leasing, next-generation jobs, and more. Still, I am not taking sides. We have had so many promises over the years and in general our elected officials have failed us.

However, I am excited that Rebecca gets it. So thanks to Rebecca Lewis.
