I'd like to start by thanking a wonderful fiber supporter and friend for sharing this article with me that I now share with you. Thank you, you fantastic person, and to all of the fantastic people that have signed this petition and advocate for public broadband :)! Remember, just throwing money at this issue and giving it to the big telecoms won't solve our problems. The big telecom low-income connections are way below the already inadequate federal standard for high-speed internet, aren't even available everywhere, and are virtually worthless. Only a public network with fiber to the home can guarantee access to 100% of our students. If this network was provided by an entity that had jurisdiction over the entire county like the Port, PUD, City and County governments it could be provided as a utility and we would have control over pricing during times of crisis too. In short, the schools could be 100% open right now.
