I sent the following information to the mayor, city council, county council and public works department after the unacceptable CenturyLink 911 outage that occurred on 12/17/2018. So far, they are ignoring us, while some council members continue to push CenturyLink. We were supposed to hear from them again on Dig Once in Q1, but I see no discussions scheduled. Hopefully it's just because of the holidays.

"I am up writing this e-mail after investigating why my cell phone, like yours, urgently sent me multiple messages about a 911 outage a few hours ago. Here's the scoop.
CenturyLink caused a statewide 911 system failure last night.

This happened along with AT&T admitting to simply rebranding 4G LTE equipment as 5G this week instead of building proper networks (which they've never done in any era. The terms have always been largely marketing terms).

Again, the big telecoms prove that they only thing they can do consistently is lie to us.
The good news is that there is a solution. It's inexpensive public infrastructure.
So this leads to the question of, where is the Dig Once Report? When are you going to put together a proper public discussion on this topic? Why are you asking for 6 times as much money to complete your feasibility study as the Port Study? (Note: This specifically refers to the city).
It doesn't get much more serious than losing your 911 systems, especially when it's totally avoidable. Time to take this seriously. Lives are on the line and Comcast has similar problems with how they run 911 services on their VOIP systems. It's not like the big telecoms are charities without the means to do a better job. They just don't care to."
