The issue

We, the undersigned citizens, ratepayers, commuters and general supporters of justice, call upon Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown to recognise the extraordinary civic contribution of Jonathan Richard Pryor, better known as Jono from Jono and Ben.

Jono has generously agreed to give up his own valuable time to serve the people of Auckland as Town Crier for the opening of Auckland's City Rail Link.

This is not a responsibility to be taken lightly.

For one historic moment, Jono will put aside his normal duties of broadcasting, annoying Ben Boyce and accumulating parking infringements to loudly and proudly herald the arrival of one of Auckland's biggest transport projects.

We therefore believe it is only fair that Auckland recognises this contribution in the traditional manner afforded to distinguished public servants:

By wiping his parking fines.

We are not asking Mayor Wayne Brown to give Jono the keys to the city. We are not asking for a statue. We are not even asking Auckland Transport to provide him with free parking for life.

We simply ask that, in recognition of his voluntary service as Auckland's Town Crier, the Mayor grant Jonathan Richard Pryor a one-off civic parking pardon and wipe the slate clean.

After all, if Auckland can spend billions building a railway underneath the city, surely we can find it in our hearts to forgive one man for occasionally leaving his car in the wrong place.

Our request
Mayor Brown: pardon Jono's parking fines.

He's giving Auckland his voice.

It's time for Auckland to give him a break.

Cry God for Auckland, Wayne Brown, and free parking for Jono!
