Terminate Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver

The Issue

Attn: Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Commissioner Anthony Batts, Captain Douglas Irwin

Good Afternoon,

Today, we are emailing in regards to the most unfortunate circumstances that have occurred as a result of the actions of Baltimore Police Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver. On 4/26/15, Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver decided to publicly expose her disregard for the unjust loss of civilian life and her misguided view of the very same civilians that she has sworn under oath to "Serve and Protect". Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver stated that she did not view the protesters, citizens, and civilians of Baltimore as humans but that in fact, she viewed them as "animals" and that she was "embarrassed to say that she even lived within a few miles of Baltimore City. Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver's exact comments were as follows:

"I am embarrassed to say that I even live within a few miles of Baltimore City. Maybe if these animals would put as much effort into getting jobs and receiving an education as they have rioting, they wouldn't have as much to bitch about. I have no sympathy for a group of people that would rather riot and destroy police vehicles instead of acknowledging that maybe they are part of the problem. Half of them don't even know what they're protesting about. How about you protest and riot about the black on black crime that is destroying the city instead of refusing to acknowledge it's existence. NO RESPECT HAS BEEN GAINED AND NOTHIN WILL BE CHANGED AS LONG AS PEOPLE CONTINUE TO ACT LIKE A DISGRACE TO THE HUMAN RACE." - Baltimore Police Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver

(End quote.)

We hope that it is thoroughly understood by the leadership in the city of Baltimore that this type of misguided way of viewing the citizens of Baltimore as "animals" should not be patrolling the streets with a gun and a badge. The actions of Jennifer Lynne Silver were unfounded, insensitive, and serve as a clear sign that she has the potential to cause even more "preventable"  embarrassment to the many honorable men and women in blue by acting recklessly in the line of duty. Screenshots of her words are all over the internet and many citizens of Baltimore have expressed sincere emotions of fear and distrust of Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver, not only for themselves, but also for the many men, women, and children residing in the great city of Baltimore. As a result, we are calling for the immediate termination of Officer Jennifer Lynne Silver by the Baltimore Police Department.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Concerned Citizens
