You saw that right! Now that City Council has cleared the way to let Cordish do whatever they want, their next big ask is for 100% property tax abatement for the next 25 years on their new Three Light Luxury Tower.
We need more people to show up at the 353 hearing on Wedbesday, March 28th at 8:30am.

Here is a recap from yesterday’s action-

This "better deal" that our council is so excited about does trim back the "99 year deal" by 58 years but that is still an unimaginable amount of time to be held prisoner by Cordish's demands.
It also makes it so we don't have to build an unlimited amount of garages during this time but the idea that we should build 6 of these at $17.4 million each when our neighborhoods barely get $4 million each year is ludicrous.
We applaud Councilwoman Katheryn Shields, Councilwoman Alissia Canady and Dan Fowler, Kansas City Councilman for doing their best for concerned citizens and trying to protect the general fund.
We appreciate Councilwoman Canady's perspective that the new amended deal is even worse for our funds and revenues will be hard to come by for everything we are promising.
Furthermore, we agree that trying to shuffle the poor people over to the Midland is not what we mean by providing affordable housing and should be seen as an affront to the economically disadvantaged voters.
