Help ban plastic water bottles in Toronto

I am a 10- year old boy who lives in Toronto and cares about the planet and future generations.  We have to ban plastic water bottles NOW before it's to late.

Approximately 1 billion plastic water bottles in Ontario go to landfills each year.  Toronto has banned selling plastic water bottles in government buildings, but this is clearly not enough.  If we do not act now, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050.

The production of plastic water bottles uses a lot of energy, freshwater and fossil fuels.  Also, shipping plastic water bottles produces greenhouse gas emissions.

Plastic water bottles are not just bad for the environment, they are also bad for your body.  Bottled water is not a healthy option because toxic chemicals from the plastic leach into the water.  Also, when plastic water bottles are exposed to heat, they release these chemicals 55 times faster.

It is easy and cheaper to use a reusable bottle. Other cities that have banned plastic water bottles have installed free water stations to fill reusable bottles to make it convenient to access water.

If you are a person who cares about the world you want the future generations to live in, then you can help by signing this petition. Don't let greedy industries and laziness ruin our planet. We need to act now!

For all the reasons listed above, I, the undersigned, am in support of a bylaw to effectively ban the use of plastic water bottles in Toronto, ON.
