Thank you all very much for your support of this petition – this is extremely encouraging.

There have been some developments. There may be an article in the Newcastle Journal daily newspaper today (Tue 12 January) about the matter. It is the early hours of Tuesday morning at the moment. There have been discussions with North Tyneside Council. Further actions are underway. Shall communicate soon with landlord of the property where the new netting was recently installed. The number of supporters on this petition currently stands at around 2,560. I think, in two days since the petition was raised - this is really great! Thank you so much. Did not know what to expect and was uncertain whether to raise a petition. I love these gulls and they need our support. You seem to think so too!

This small group of gulls in North Shields is what remains of the original few at this site (different individuals now, of course) which were first seen nesting here in 1949. It was from the ferry landing group of kittiwakes that they spread to other River Tyne locations, including Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides, several miles upstream.

Please continue to support and share this petition.

Many thanks from Daniel.
