Hi everyone, Thank you for registering your support, and helping us lobby the Mayor of London to retract the application for what is possibly one of *the largest* concrete manufacturing facilities in the UK! In case you were wondering wether we are overreacting, here is what local government officials had to say about the planning applications and the project in general: Tower Hamlets: “Tower Hamlets Council is concerned that the proposals may result in significant effects on the environment…particularly with reference to the potential cumulative impacts of these three applications. It is unclear if the LLDC have considered the cumulative impacts and the proposed batching plants should be screened on this basis pursuant to EIA legislation”. Newham: “The application does not address the cumulative environmental impact of three proposed cement batching facilities...The report has not reassured me that noise complaints are unlikely for this development at night-time and I recommend the operation is restricted to standard day-time hours. The report has also not reassured me that all potential impulsive noise sources have been considered.” Environmental Agency: “We feel that it is relevant and necessary to raise our concerns when commenting on this particular planning application. The site is located in an area that has been the subject of significant concern to us with regards to air quality. In particular, there are high levels of airborne particulate pollution (PM10) in the area. We SHOULD NOT & WILL NOT let the LLDC get away with it! Even the local authorities which are accountable to the residents think it's a bad idea - let's make sure we are heard! Please help us spread the message as widely as possible, Sincerely, Hanan
