Tulip tower - no thanks

Tulip tower - no thanks
The Issue
Dear Mayor Khan,
Please refuse permission for the ‘Tulip’ tower.
(Land adjacent to 20 Bury Street, planning application 18/01213/FULEIA)
Its only purpose is to be an exclusive viewing gallery. It is a waste of money and environmental resources, not a public benefit. It is too prominent on the skyline and the shape is ugly. Some say it is Disneyfication and an abomination.
Please respect the planning rules. Your Stage One report already says:
- the height is unjustified
- the building would appear incongruous
- it would harm strategic views
- it would not conform with the London Plan.
People should have a say in this decision about the skyline.
---------------------------------------------
Background
Architect: Foster and Partners
Developers: J. Safra Group
Owners: Bury Street Properties (Luxembourg) S.a.r.l.
Tower is 305m high: the applicants say 'as high as is currently possible, within the limits of the Civil Aviation Authority’s guidance.' The pod would contain restaurants, bars and viewing areas with 8% of floor space an 'educational facility'.
On 2 April the Corporation of London's planning committee approved permission. The application is referred to the Mayor of London, following drafting of the legal agreement. The Mayor already wrote a Stage One report:
