As you know, the City voted on June 22, to take down our Plaza Memorial to the 44 dead from St. Augustine.
One lawsuit has been filed that may keep them from taking it down, for a little while.
The people of St. Augustine are rising up to fight back but as it stands now, in the next few weeks, unless they change their mind or if we can be successful in Federal court, our Plaza historical empty tomb to the fallen will be taken down.
It is so unique - like the Constitution Monument - it was built in place by a local craftsman - a brother of one of the men named on the memorial. It is made of mortared bricks with a shell of coquina stucco. It cannot be moved without destroying it.
How can you help?
1. Sign the petition asking the City to "RECONSIDER" their vote:
https://www.sshfl.org/plazapetition
2. Send an email to the commissioners at cosa@citystaug.comand DEMAND they KEEP THE Memorial - RECONSIDER THEIR VOTE at their Monday, June 13th at 5 p.m.
3. If you can get to the Monday 5 p.m. meeting please do - bring a flag bring a sign - we need a protest on the street to KEEP THE MEMORIAL
4. Donate to the Legal war chest - we need funds to fight the City in Court. Donate here now: https://mp.gg/32l-g
