Miami Dade Animal Services is one of the largest kill shelters in the USA. After doing my research, I learned that about 37,000 animals come in and out every year and out of that many animals 6,000 get adopted, 8,000 are rescued by rescue groups, and unfortunately the rest are euthanized. Each week about 100 cats and dogs are euthanized at this shelter. Imagine if out of those many animals at least 1 could have been adopted by someone who has the heart to foster or adopt. The average life span of a cat is 15 years and the average life span for a dog is 8-11 years. I know that you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that we wouldn't be able to adopt/foster/rescue all of them, but you also don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that we can change these animals lives for the better. If we gain Carlos A. Gimenez, Raquel Regalado, and Luigi Boria's help, we as a community, will make this world a better place one pet/shelter at a time!
