We need your voices!

My wife and I recently had meetings with Mayor Abe-Koga and another council member.  We shared our personal story and tried to convey the urgency of what we are trying to accomplish.  We were encouraged by the conversations but they both basically said the same thing: they need to hear from you too!

The next city council meeting is August 25th and I am planning to speak at it.  We need others to speak up too!  If you are interested in speaking please send an email to smokefreemv@gmail.com.  I will share another update with more information on how to register to speak when it becomes available.

Until then, if you are a resident of Mountain View, the most significant thing you can do to help is to contact each council member individually.  Here are some tips for how to email them:

• Include the key points
  • This issue is a public health issue
  • This issue is being made worse by shelter-in-place
  • The county and most surrounding cities already have smoking ordinances
• Make it personal
  • Email one council member at a time
  • Share personal stories!
  • Mentioning how and why this is important to you goes a long way
  • Ask for a video call to express your concerns!
