You may recall that the Strawberry Fields issue generated more widespread opposition than City Council had ever seen, by their own words. Well, the opposition to the North Cheyenne Cañon Master Plan is at least on par. While there were some concessions made in the Appeal, namely the Parks Department will have to undergo a public process to get the "toolbox items" like buses passed, it still requires vigilance and involvement by the public -- you. Please know that your emails were referenced several times by different council members. Your voice matters.With that in mind, there are many people outraged over the bus traffic in the canyon. Many people have been documenting concerns to City Council, the press and the police department. It is critical that we each do so. When you see something wrong, say something. Use your phone to video or take pictures if you can, and then take the time to email City Council and copy the press, Save Cheyenne and Friends of Cheyenne Cañon for transparency and ask your leadership what actions will be taken to correct the issues. Take the time to call Gold Hill Mesa police station (they track these complaints -- and the numbers matter). Their number is 719-385-2100. It does not take long and is well worth it. They have encouraged us to report issues.If any of you happen to live near the canyon and can offer your opinions regarding the historical traffic at 7 Falls under Lyda Hill's ownership, please do share that with City Council. There is a large gap in what is being characterized by the Parks Departments as the historical traffic (back up in both directions for "miles") versus what many locals recall.
