Council accepts petition - so join us on 19th July!

Thursday 13th July at 12pm was the deadline for Tower Hamlets Council to receive petitions in time for items to be added to next week's full Council meeting agenda. At that point a little over 5,000 people had signed either this change.org petition or a paper copy and we have subsequently learned that the petition was accepted and our issue will be debated by the Council. Thanks to all those who have signed, canvassed and lobbied thus far. The next important task for us to make our presence felt at the meeting at Tower Hamlets Town Hall (Mulberry Place) next Wednesday (19th July). There are two ways in which you can do this: A) You can write to your local councillors and/or the Mayor of Tower Hamlets John Biggs ahead of the meeting in order to explain how THYSF's staff or programmes have helped you, and why you feel so strongly that generations to come should have the same or better opportunities. B) You can join us in a lobby outside of the Town Hall on Wednesday 19th July at 5pm. We hope as many young people, families, teachers, coaches and partners as possible can join us to wave some placards, talk to press and talk to Councillors about their concerns.
