In 2013, Kermit Gosnell was sentenced to three life terms for performing illegal late term abortions on babies that were well beyond the legal age limit for abortions. In fact, many of the victims of his crimes were viable almost fully to term babies. To remedy that problem, Gosnell and his unqualified staff snipped the child’s spinal cord with a pair of scissors. The even more horrifying aspect of this situation is the fact that Gosnell performed this practice for 30 years on countless babies, the state prosecution was only able to prove three of them, the three he was eventually convicted for.

Present day, the property of 3801 Lancaster Avenue where these crimes were committed, sits as an abandoned and dilapidated monument to legislative apathy, societal degradation, and an opportunistic sociopath. My wife and I have teamed up with a local pregnancy center to purchase this property and turn it into a symbol of hope – well beyond its original purpose. The pregnancy center offers free services for mothers and babies who may lack the basic resources needed during their pregnancy.

Finally, the property goes to public auction on April 17th where it will be auctioned to the highest bidder. There are three possible scenarios that could occur – 1) a reputable establishment like the pregnancy center we are affiliated with could purchase the property and turn something evil into something good, 2) a developer will buy it, tear it down, and put up another structure and seemingly erase the history that occurred there and the lessons that need to be remembered, or 3) another doctor or abortion facility buys the property and operations continue as they left off in 2013.

Please sign this petition so we can show Philadelphia City Hall how important it is that this building rise from its infamous history and be transformed into something that can invoke positive social change for the residents of West Philadelphia.
