The Louisville Zoo's 2016 Master Plan calls for solar car ports that produce clean, renewable electricity while providing shade for the cars in the parking lot. The solar panels would pay for themselves within 15 years from the electricity they produce, which helps the zoo reduce its operating costs. The Cincinnati Zoo installed solar panels in their parking lot years ago with great success.
