It's a Victory but it's only the beginning. While the Regina City Council voted in favor of designating the Regina Indian Industrial School cemetery heritage status, there is still more work to be done. Provincial and Federal protection will also be sought and fundraising will need to be done. We had comments, signatures and support from all over the globe and I'm sure the participants of Project of Heart and the amazing people of the RIIS Commemorative Association would like to join in thanking all of you for getting the word out about these children; the ones who never made it home and the ones who survived to share their stories. We also would like to thank Mayor Michael Fougere and the Regina City Council for hearing your voices, listening to survivor's stories and for doing the right thing.
