Thank you for attending the big meeting tonight! The San Mateo City Council will finally be voting on the proposal to remove zoning protection for the rink. If the Council votes with SPI Holdings LLC, the rink will be torn down in favor of another big box store. With your help, we can stop this from happening and pursue other means of getting the rink back open. Here are details on the meeting: Monday, April 18, 2016 7pm San Mateo City Hall 330 W 20th Ave, San Mateo, CA SPI Holdings will be bringing their fat wallet, high priced attorneys, and shifty PR team to the meeting. We don't have any of that . . . but we do have YOU! If you and our other supporters show up we will win. We need everyone to attend as SPI has recently sweetened their offer in an attempt to sway the Council. It will be very difficult, however, for the San Mateo City Council to side with an out-of-town developer when so many voters are willing to stand up in favor of the rink and recreational facilities for our kids. At the meeting, please give a brief two minute comment to the Council on why they should reject SPI Holdings LLC's proposal. Upon arrival, please fill out an "I'd like to speak" card and turn this in to the City Clerk at the front of the room. We especially needs San Mateo residents to speak. We look forward to seeing you tonight and, with your help, winning this battle. SAVE THE RINK! Mike Swire & the Committee to Save the San Mateo Ice Rink
