Dear Neighbors,
THANK YOU for signing the petition and for your passionate support for sharing DC public facilities fairly.
You have been joined by over 2200 others (and climbing!) and your voices are being heard loudly! There have been at least 5 news articles and more coming. Click Here if you have more you want to tell the decision-makers.
SOME BIG NEWS!!!
- Meeting With Mayor Bowser: This WED, Sept. 11, Mayor Bowser will meet with 3 elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners Elizabeth Miller, Kishan Putta, and Joe Gibbons to discuss this issue. Do you have any questions or comments for Mayor Bowser? Please CLICK HERE to share your input and to be added to our coalition. We will update you after the meeting.
- Two DC Councilmembers, Elissa Silverman and Mary Cheh, are publicly asking DPR to rescind the deal. Silverman has asked for a DC Council hearing, but that hearing must be called by Councilmember Trayon White, chair of the committee overseeing parks.
How YOU Can Help:
- Call And Email the DC Council: Check our our Action Flier for how to spread the word AND who to call and email. Please continue sharing our petition.
- Share your input and join our coalition
- Social Media: Please Follow/Share @JelleffPublic on Twitter and Jelleff Community Friends on Facebook
It’s an uphill climb, but if we work together, we hope we can get the city to rescind/void this deal and SHARE our PUBLIC resources more fairly and transparently. This isn’t just about Jelleff. This is a terrible precedent for all our public institutions, it’s divisive and counter-productive, and worst of all - it is a terrible lesson for our children...
We Have A Chance To Teach Our Children A Better Lesson: That communities can come together and work with leaders to achieve more fairness and equity.
Thank you again for caring and for your continued support.
