James M Sims is widely recognized as the father of modern American gynecology. He is the first physician to have a bronze statue in Central Park NYC, he also has statues at both the South Carolina and Alabama State Capitols. His name graces buildings, hospitals, schools, and street signs all over South Carolina. He attained this fame through his experimentations on female slaves against their will. He completed these tests WITHOUT giving his subjects anesthesia! These women, Anarcha, Betty, and Lucy were just some that were held captive and given to Sims by slave masters who felt that since they could no longer derive anymore sexual pleasure from the ladies then they were no longer of any use. Sims felt Africans were numb to pain and made the ladies hold one down while he defied the other bt performing hysterectomies, tubal ligation, among other horrible operations. He also took slave infants and used an awl, the device that put holes in belts and shoes, in an attempt to realign the baby's skull. A sick, depraved man who left a trail of tears, death, and trauma.
