Mayor de Blasio: Save the homes of more than 80 Brooklyn families facing mass eviction
The Issue
Mayor de Blasio: we need you to take immediate action to save the homes of more than 80 Brooklyn families facing mass eviction. You placed these families -- our tenant leaders & members -- in the scatter-site shelter program, in dilapidated buildings owned by the notorious Barry Hers. In less than two years, you paid Barry Hers more than $17.5 million. And now you’re turning your back on our families. We need more than words and empty promises to make this right. We need you, Mayor de Blasio, to keep your promise and force this landlord to give our families rent stabilized leases. You said you were willing to use eminent domain to turn scatter-site shelters into permanent housing. And you were willing to use eminent domain to help Amazon. If you are willing to use eminent domain for profit, you need to show us you are willing to use it for people. We call on you to keep your promise and make sure these 80 families get rent-stabilized leases!
