On Friday, October 22, we held a press conference at the Mott Haven Educational Complex in the Bronx. On Thursday, October 21, a loaded gun was found on a student. This is was the fifth gun found on a student by our School Safety Agents during that week.
Our press conference was well attended by every tv news station and all NYC newspapers. The coverage of the crisis in our schools and the critical safety role of our School Safety Agents was understood.
Praise and thank you was publicly expressed by Mayor de Blasio, NYPD Commissioner Shea, and so called "woke" politicians who have relentlessly attacked school safety, filled the airwaves and newspapers.
Our School Safety Agents are majority Black, Hispanic, and Asian women. They are mothers and grandmothers who protect our children every day and unarmed. They find and confiscate loaded guns from students without a bullet proof vest. They are our Sheroes and Heroes.
We have a shortage of 1800 School Safety Agents. This shortage caused by Jumaane Williams, Corey Johnson, Brad Lander, and Helen Rosenthal has jeopardized the safety of all NYC public school students.
While we are pleased that our School Safety Agents are finally appreciated, we want the staff shortage addressed and for the city to hire 1800 new School Safety Agents ASAP!
