Introduction of speed breakers and speed limits in residential areas

The Issue

Salt Lake(Bidhannagar) is a largely residential area near Kolkata. Although offices and malls have come up of late,large areas of Salt Lake are still residential. In the light of these developments, there has been a drastic rise in the number of vehicles in Salt Lake. Owing to this rise in vehicles,a large number of accidents have taken place injuring and even killing human beings and even animals. Ubers, Olas, school buses and cars drive at very high speeds even in residential lanes. In the light of the accidents caused by these speeding vehicles,it is necessary to have some restrictions on these vehicles. A more actively enforced speed limit along with some speed breakers in residential areas would certainly help create some awareness of this problem and may help in reducing accidents.
