Take The Survey: Bring Restoration To The Table

Dear Friend of Pershing Square, Thank you for signing the petition supporting the restoration of the historic 1910 John Parkinson design for L.A.'s oldest downtown park. 1720 people share this beautiful idea! Pershing Square Renew, the non-profit that has been formed to explore revitalizing the park, has hired the New York-based consulting group Project For Public Spaces to produce a report on Pershing Square. As part of this process, they have launched an online survey where people can offer feedback. Having attended the first of a series of invite-only events last week, we can tell you that restoring John Parkinson's park is not currently an option that Pershing Square Renew and the Project For Public Spaces are considering. The current plan is to poll the community about how it wants to use the park, then invite several contemporary architectural firms to enter a design competition for a brand new park that incorporates the most popular activities. We think there is another option, one that is simple, classic and has been proven to be successful: restoration!
