Dear Friend of Pershing Square, We're excited to share something very special as part of our campaign encouraging the city to restore John Parkinson's 1910 design for Pershing Square: a portion of that beautiful park has just been digitally recreated by the architect's great-great grandson, 3D designer R. Arlen Parkinson DeCambre. Click the links below to see this lost landscape on video or explore the 3D rendering at your own pace. Isn't it beguiling? Arlen Parkinson DeCambre: "I am currently a 3D Designer in the Bay Area trying to reconnect with my Parkinson roots in Los Angeles as my great-great grandfather had a passion for Los Angeles. He wanted to create a space for people to escape the city. It was such an important project for him that he did it for free. I wanted to create this video to remind people what the park looked like and show them what it could look like again in the future. I used his original drawings, although limited with information, there was enough that I was able to build upon them to create it in 3D utilizing my design/video game art skills." We are grateful to Arlen for his beautiful work, and know that John Parkinson would be proud to see a descendant following in his footsteps and offering his services at no cost to help make Los Angeles a better place. And in recent press clips, KCET columnist D.J. Waldie asks if the Pershing Square Renew redesign campaign is asking too much of Pershing Square: http://www.kcet.org/socal/departures/columns/where-we-are/imagining-los-angeles-in-pershing-square-reflecting-the-very-essence.html For more information about the historic park, the restoration campaign and what comes next, please visit: http://restorepershingsquare.blogspot.com yrs, Kim Cooper & Richard Schave LAVA - The Los Angeles Visionaries Association & The Pershing Square Restoration Society
