CREATION OF A CITY PARK IN THE CITY OWNED GREATER NANAIMO WATER DISTRICT LANDS

The GNWD lands, bordered by Nanaimo Lakes Road and Harewood Mines Road, are city owned lands consisting of approximately 248 acres of undeveloped second growth forest, rocky outcroppings and wetland areas. Inhabited by black tailed deer, black bear, river otter, numerous owl species and blue heron amongst others these lands have been used in recent times by area residents for recreation through a series of informal trails.
Nestled in an area of our city rapidly being developed it is imperative that these lands be preserved as park and greenspace not only for ourselves but for our children and grandchildren.
As community consultation moves forward it is important that you take part and voice your concerns so that these lands can be saved for future generations to enjoy, a prized jewel of tranquility!
