On June 4th, just over 2,400 digital and physical signatures were presented to the Franklin County Prosecutor Shayla Favor and the Special Prosecutors Tim Merkle and Gary Shroyer.

On June 9th, Special Prosecutors requested the maximum sentence of 36 months.  Meade's sentencing for his reckless homicide conviction was postponed until June 30th, 2026.  

On June 25th -per local news media;  Defense Attorneys Mark Collins and Kaitlyn Stephens filed a motion to delay Meade’s sentencing again and requests the sentencing be changed to a bond hearing to reinstate his bond as they believe the state is planning to file their own motion to retry the murder charge for a 3rd time. 

Collins & Stephens statement to WBNS 10 Columbus: 

"With only 5 days remaining before the scheduled sentencing date, and with no dismissal of the felony murder charge having occurred, the State's course of action is unmistakable: it has chose  to retry Mr. Meade for a third time-"

They argue that Meade cannot be sentenced yet because the murder charge isnt resolved. If granted Meade could go home that day should he post bond. As of mid-day June 25th ; Prosecutors have yet to confirm if they will retry the murder charge. 🙏🏼

June 30th Update:  Judge David C.  Young has reinstated bond for Jason Meade . Judge Young has also recused himself from the case pending a potential 3rd murder trial. We still wait to hear if the State will retry.
