Alo Yoga Marketing Transparency

Alo Yoga Marketing Transparency
The Issue
Alo Yoga is a major competitive Yoga clothing company on Instagram (@AloYoga). It has been brought to our attention by thousands of people, that Alo Yoga participated in shady marketing, by encouraging its ambassadors to not use the official sponsorship tag that is currently offered on instagram. They also encourage their ambassadors to tell their potential customers, that the clothing they wear for the company, is “By Alo Yoga,” instead of “Sponsored by Alo Yoga.” Alo Yoga pays their ambassadors at the rate of somewhere around $500 a month per 50,000 followers, while some of them (with less than 50,000 followers) receive a ton of free clothing in exchange . They are ambassadors being paid to advertise for Alo Yoga. Because they are not paid by post, Alo Yoga was overlooked last time by authorities, when more than 300-500 complaints were emailed into the Federal Trade Commission. Enough is enough.
We are asking that Alo Yoga respectfully follow Federal Trade Commission guidelines, by being transparent about their advertising and marketing practices. In fact, Alo Yoga just recently claimed several “Inspirational Accounts” used to subliminally advertise their products to more than 2,000,000 followers, after I wrote an article about their shady advertising.
Please Alo Yoga, do the right thing. We are asking that the Federal Trade Commission also look into the matter more deeply this time and recommend that Alo Yoga be more transparent in their marketing.
