At present, babies are arbitrarily assigned a gender at birth by so-called medical professionals.  But gender, sex and sexuality are socially constructed concepts.  The entire medical profession is steeped in a heteronormative worldview that perpetuates power structures to the detriment of minorities. 

Babies lack the power of speech, and are therefore unable to consent to the random labelling of "male" and "female".  This assumption of cisgender preference is a form of trans erasure.  

We should give all newborn babies numbers rather than names until they are ready to determine their own gender identity.
