Lisa Harris started this petition to Matt Hancock (UK Health Secretary)

In 2016, WHO confirmed measles in the U.K. was eradicated, however in the 10 months between January and October last year there were 918 confirmed measles cases in England alone. From January to March this year the WHO and the UN have stated that the cases globally have risen by 300 – 400%
In the U.K. the NHS have released figures, ½ a million children are not vaccinated.

Some of the above figures can be attributed to immigration, however there is a large proportion which is directly related to the growing population of anti vaxers.
On social media and some forums it appears the biggest fears of the measles vaccination to this population are the autism scare and the (extremely rare) side effects, of which include encephalitis

There was an 11 year danish study of more than 650,000 children, where there was absolutely no link found between the MMR vaccination and autism.
1-3 in 1,000 children contracting measles will develop encephalitis concurrent with the measles infection. 10–15% of those children will die and a further 25% will be left with permanent neurological damage. However 1-2 in 1,000,000 children who had vaccination will develop encephalitis from the vaccination which is less than the incidence of all types of encephalitis.

Anti vaxers can have a damaging effect on parents, even those parents who are convinced that allowing their child to have the vaccinations is the right thing, anti vaxers are able to plant the seed of doubt in their minds, by spreading uneducated lies, and I can attest to this. The anti vaxer population refer to their freedom of medical choice, however their inaction could cause wide spread injury to others, so why is this statement accepted as a valid argument.

The health secretary, Matt Hancock, recently said he would not rule out making vaccinations mandatory, however he does not wish to do so.
The time has come for the vaccinations to be made mandatory, especially before any admittance to a public school.
The unvaccinated children and adults put all babies, children who have not had the full two doses of the vaccine (as they are not old enough) and all children/adults who are immunocompromised at risk of contracting measles all of whom measles would have much more detrimental effects than older and healthy children and adults. To protect those who can’t protect themselves something needs to be done.
